Center of Intervention for perpetrators of intimate partner violence and their partners
From 2014 to 2014 The Danish Social Ministry funded a test project; an Intervention center for perpetrators of intimate partner violence and their partners. At the Intervention center counselling was given to couples who had been in contact with the police because of intimate partner violence. The presentation will focus on the purpose and organization of the Intervention center, the cost of the Intervention center, and how the Intervention center cooperated with the police. Furthermore the presentation will give information on the characteristics of the perpetrators of intimate partner violence and their partners, as well as the results of the counselling.
Kirstina Stenager is a sociologist working as a special advisor at The National Board of Social Services in Denmark. The board refers to The Ministry of Social affairs and the Interior. Kirstina Stenager has been working with social policy at the Board within the field of intimate partner violence since 2010. She is involved in the implementation of projects related to intimate partner violence and has been teaching social workers, teachers, police and other professionals on intimate partner violence. In addition she is the co-author of a number of reports on the matter fx ‘Annual statistics of women and children at shelters for domestic violence’ (2009-2014), ‘Knowledge on intimate partner violence’ (2013), ‘Treatment to male perpetrators of intimate partner violence’ (2011) and ´Family counselling to women at shelters for domestic violence’ (2011).
